What is Panther FabLab?
FabLab (Fabrication Laboratory) is a small-scale workshop offering personal, digital fabrication. Being generally equipped with an array of flexible computer-controlled tools that cover several different length scales and various materials, with the aim to make "almost anything," we will surely get the job done in a time orderly, professional, and effective manner.
Established in 2012
The Panther FabLab was created at New Lexington High School in the fall of 2012 with the inspiration from many great minds. Fab labs, short for fabrication laboratories, were coined such by one Neil Gershenfeld at MIT in the Center for Bits and Atoms. These labs facilitated a course there titled “How to make (almost) anything.” The fab lab at NLHS was started to facilitate the engineering courses that were being taught. The labs have spread from inner-city Boston to Africa and Norway, with projects tackling applications in areas including healthcare, agriculture, housing, and communications.
